A poem to share

Wow! It has been a long time since I updated this blog! Any of you still out there? Here's a poem that I have, that I just have to share. Anyone who knows me will laugh! Hope you enjoy it!

The Scrapbook Store

I went to the scrapbooking store today
Just to buy one thing.
Then I saw this layout on the wall
It made the products sing.

Oh, I need to have those stickers
Showcased on the rack,
I've only got two things in my basket
No need to put one back.

Wait, now I see those flowers
Oh, maybe just one or two
My shopping has turned into
Buying not one, but a few.

Look, there's some pretty paper
With polka dots galore,
I need it for my layout
I've got to have some more!

Brads, eyelets and ribbons
My collection is getting low
Just add these to my shopping spree
It's almost time to go.

Now, I've found some albums
You never have enough,
Leaving this store with just one thing
I'm finding very tough.

Okay, that's it, I'm done now
I bring my stuff to pay,
I look at my watch to see the time
Have I been shopping here all day?

Lady GaGA comes to Myra's Ink!

Tee hee! And the friendly competition is on! I created a lovely card (or so I think!) for my Daughter-in-law to be. There is a family wedding this July. Her shower was this past Saturday and I wanted to do something special. So I created this:
I used the Tim Holtz dress form as a base, and was inspired by Virginia from Scrapalicious, who got me started on the paper doll theme.

I brought in my card to get successfully get a couple of "oohs" and "awes" and surprisingly heard that it had made Scrapalicous's Facebook page.

While I was in the store - and Virginia was there she challenged me to a dress that "Lady GaGa" would wear.

So without further a due, may I present the next outfit to be worn by the lady of musical wonder!

In 3D no less! I figured it had to be sheer, have some glitz and she is always about a cover up (or totally not!) and so I added a cape that could be worn open for grandeur or closed and taken off at the pinnacle point in the song when she.........

Love to hear what you think and love to see what you create! I will bring mine to the store!

Ok Virginia - you are up! And, I guess I should say no peeking...too late.

Yes, I am still maintaining my blog!

How quickly time passes! My last post was over a month ago! The month of April is full of conventions for both paper crafts and jewellery - so you know I have been busy! I had the pleasure once again of working for Scrapalicious at Scrapfest in Kitchener, and Creativefest in Mississauga! I love working conventions and being surrounded with people who share my passion! And we can't forget the shopping!

During Scrapfest, I had the pleasure of watching Deanna, of Glitter Ritz fame, who shared her technique known as burnished velvet. She also demonstrated many other techniques that you can use with the ultra fine glitter, peel offs and copics. I learned so much.  Now time to put that to use. Hopefully I will have some pictures to post soon. For now, just letting you know I am still crafting!

Of the four cards shown, 2 are identical, just one in Rose Red and the other in Baja Breeze. We will be playing with Smooch Spray, creating a Cracked glass technique and just plain having fun! As always, the verses/sayings can be modified to create a special card for you. Hope to see you there!

Stampin Up Mega Meeting - This weekend!

About 4 times a year, my Upline Laura, holds the most fantastic Mega Meetings. These meetings are attended mostly Stampin Up Demonstrators, but if you are one of the lucky guests to attend - get ready for something great!
We make some great cards to take home, see some "Wow" presentations for ideas or techniques and have a great opportunity to swap cards with other Demos. Here are my cards ready for the swap

They are reasonably simple cards, but when you make 60 - you have to set limits! I hope the other Demos like them! I will be sure to bring Mega news to you soon.

Stampin Up Spinner Class

Hi all,

In case you had wanted to come, but just got busy, I wanted to share the cards that I prepared for the class today. I was very enthusiastic about the new spinner stamps and brads that Stampin Up put in the Occaisions catalogue. So, as I mentioned in my last newsletter, the focus on this class was the spinners. Here are all three together.

This first one, is what I call a peek-a-boo. I made it with a window, but it really should be left open so that you can spin the dial while the card is open or closed. It has a simple monochromatic colour scheme, and I used the punchie stamp kit from the Sale-a-bration catalogue to get the flowers, heart and bird stamped images. The theme of this spinner dial inside is about characteristics - kindness, thoughtful etc.

This next card is an easel card. The popularity of this style of card is going crazy!

The dial on the spinner stamp is about birthdays, but I themed this card in a more masculine gendre. There is space to write a greeting, you just can't see it as it is the uppper part of the inside of the card

This last card is a "Happy Everything" card. The dial turns revealing happy birthday, Happy Anniversary, Welcome baby - you get the idea.

I decorated the bottom with Balloons which are great for any occaisions. Another difference is that instead of using the arrow and brad, I cut another circle, layered it so that you can turn to open it to the greeting that you want.

Next class - Cards using the Vintage line offered in our catalogue. Please email me to sign up!

Re-new Re-use Re-cycle!

It is the trends these days to look at our garbage and see if there are other ways to use it. Now, don't get me wrong - Maggies/Tilda is no way garbage! What I am trying to say is that I love it when I see someone use a stamp in a way not thought of before, or by adding elements to the stamp that takes a basic stamp and makes if Fab! I fondly remember tipsy Tilda! Thanks to the Ladies at the Magnolia-Lious group who are constantly pushing their crafting for more Tilda fun!

So here is my effort at reusing a stamp. Now I have read many web sites; and the jury seems to be out as to who is really hiding in these bandage - Is it Tilda or Edwin? Either way, a friend of mine recently called me to say how silly he felt as he had fallen down the stairs. I reminded him he had a birthday coming up, and it is just likely he is getting old. I do not mean to insult anyone who has mobility issues, but with this friend I joke how he enjoys his evening cocktail. So this is the birthday card I made him. I hope you like how I cleverly used a Halloween stamp for a get well/birthday card!

Inside the card - "Another Birthday"

I caught the Love Bug!

I caught the Love Bug! And who is that with it? Tilda no less! I thought I would never buy this stamp, but was inspired when I saw this design of the Lady Bug. I thought I know who would sit quit nicely on there! And what do you think? Then, because Tilda is only glued on one side of the Lady Bug's wings, you can open her up and see the message inside!
"Sending all my Love" you! It is a rub-on on the black paper.

And because you have asked, these are the colours I used. I decided along with you, that this is a good thing to do - especially when someone asks you to recreate a card you made yourself!

Thanks for stopping by. If you like jewellery, keep reading!

If my love for stamping and scrapping isn't enough, I had to add making jewellery to the list! As you may have seen in some of my other posts, I like stringing and I love shopping! But the shopping part works for all my crafting! So, I will just share a few of my latest creations.
One of our children in our blended family is engaged to be married this summer. I was inspired to make a little something for the lovely bride and hope that she wears it on her wedding day. This is a lovely fresh water pearl necklace and earring set, with just enough bling to make it special

Then, I loved it so much, I made one for me! Not the same, of course! Mine is also freshwater pearls, but with hues of lilac, pink and grey. The earrings are also different - different bling! This set has less of that fresh innocent look, but is just as beautiful!

Hope you like them!

Long time - No create

It is amazing how you go through these dry spells, and then you can't stop!

I had a few new Magnolia stamps that I hadn't used yet, (and probably still have a couple more!) so I needed to get busy. Here are a couple of creations:
This is from the Mgnolia " family" collections this past fall; in colours just in time for valentines! I didn't put a verse on it, but it could do for best friends or sisters.

Another one I did was a Kraftin Kimmie stamp. Meet Wilbur:
I had a lot of fun with this card. The roses and bee are glazed, and I added the bumble bee to the "bee mine" stamp.

A few flowers and some ribbon and voila!
Feel free to leave a comment.

Stampin Up - Just the bear facts!

One of our Demonstrators is having her first baby! We were asked to make a card and bring it to the Baby Shower. Well, I couldn't make the party but couldn't resist to make a card! I really wanted to use some of the Stampin Up fabrics. So this is what came out:
I used the Build a bear die cuts to make This proud new mom all dressed (with pearl necklace)! She is on a black felt back ground. You can pull her out from behine the acetate cover and use her as a bookmark, little doll or embellishment in a scrapbook. Hope you like her!

Already mingling!

Honestly! Where does the time go? In my last posting, I managed to add my mingle card from the Magnolia-licious on-line group. One might ask not only where does the time go, but where do the cards go when you put them in the mail? I sent off that card to a destination within Canada, and it never arrived. So, I can say that between Christmas preparations and a bit of relaxing with family and friends, the time gets eaten up too quickly!

For December, I did not sign up for any scrapping activities knowing that I would be racing to push out cards for Christmas. They went out so fast, I did not take any pictures. I know now, that I have to start for next year now as I have no reserves! I used them all this year. So, come July when I offer my Christmas in July, I dare you to laugh at me!

I have managed to get my January Mingle card in the mail lickety split! You can see it below. I used my own card swap kit (that is also in the mail!) to make it for my mingle partner in Florida. I hope you and she enjoy it!
I used Tilda and Edwin's elephant, and inside I had a little mouse stamp so I accented the inside with that. Hope you like it, and I hope to post more regularly in the New Year! All the best!
